Friday Night in Morges

The moon was fabulous tonight. Very clear and slightly orange, with a beautiful glow around it. And of course the clouds were a nice effect as well.

I don't know why, what with the combination of my extraordinary skills and rockin tripod (pictured above), I couldn't capture it with the camera. Ideas, anyone (ryon? people who have recently been taking photography classes?)? I messed around with the ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, but couldn't hit the right combo. The moon always came out as a big white glowing orb.

  1. my very uneducated guess is that in that shot, you'd either have to have settled for the moon as you wanted or clouds, but not both due to the extreme light differences... but really, i don't know...

  2. The moon is actually moving quite fast across the sky. You need a fairy quick shutter speed to freez it or it turns out like a big white blob. 1/250 or so. Use your spot meeter and aim the camera at the moon. Most pictures you see with a perfect moon and a perfect city are 2 pictures put together.
