Product of the USA?

We purchased a bundle of asparagus from the store and couldn’t believe how big the individual stalks were. We commented on how we never saw asparagus that big in the US. Tonight we read the label and discovered it was grown in the US. Apparently the US is exporting its best asparagus (or is it asparagi?) and leaving the wimpy stalks for its citizens.
